Default Dumb A$$ Dealership! Help Me!

Ok, so I have a used stage 2 kit. I took the pcm to the dealer yesterday, and they said they could not do it w/o the car. So I took the car back today. 1st of all the guy couldn't even get the wire harness plugs into the pcm. I had to do it! They finally got it installed and then hooked up the DRBIII. An hour and a half later they said they could not do it. They said the initial VIN is burnt in the pcm and can't be changed. Then they said well maybe it can be done but they can't do it. They car started but threw a code so they turned it off. They said the old VIN was on there and the PCM would not let them in to change it. I argued forever and told them it is done all the time, but they were evidently ranked at the bottom of shop class! Anyone have any ideas? Should I keep trying to find a dealer that knows what its doing, or just send it to Flight Systems? Can I go ahead and install the sensors, injectors, and WGA until I get the pcm done? Why do they say they need the car, if Flight Systems can do it without the car? Please help me, my car is just setting until I get this done.

Sounds like you need a new dealer. I'd let my fingers do the walking and call some other Dodge dealers in the area and speak to the service manager and explain what you want done. There ARE dealers out there that know what they're doing, but sometimes you have to search for them.............

Thanks Dusty, I did call a couple other dealers, who didn't think it would be a problem. I just hope they will do it for a reasonable price. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. Will the car run okay if I install the other S2 parts and put the PCM in when I get it done?

You're getting deep into "warranty world" here........best to get the opinion of the service manager at the dealer who does the work and make a note of who you talked to and date/time/location/etc. It might save you $ later on.......many dealers will overlook stage 1 on warranty work, stage 2 is another story.......this has been an issue with Mopar for a long time and a common topic on DF.

let me tell you a story! I have a 05 srt-4 with wga, open downpipe, intake, wires,mm,fmic, hardpipes, ssqv and springs..I got my car from orlando fl,which is like 65min from me.and where i live there is a dealer that is really a joke!.My tranny had alot of problems from day one.At 7,000 miles my flyweel was replaced with no problem.I had like 19,000miles on it at the time and i could not get it into 3rd gear.If i would down shift from another gear it would just pop out LOL.It was really pissing me off!.I took it back there and they told me it would be around 800 to see what it is and around 1200-2000 to fix it LOL BS.They told me that my warranty ws not going to cover it! So i called the dealer i got my car from in orlando and told them the story and what they told me here. They said why do they not want to fix it? I was like the hell if i know. They looked me up in the computer and said, well you still have your warranty its not void.So they told me to come up here and they will fix it.THEY DID 1600 WORTH OF WORK ON MY CAR AND DIDNT ? A DAMN THING.THEY SAID WE AT THIS DEALE RONLY REALLY DONT FIX SOMONES CAR IS THEY HAVE A BIGGER TURBO OR NOS.MY CAR WAS DONE IN 3DAYS(COOL)AND I WAS SO PLEASED WITH THE DEALER I GOT MY CAR FROM.THEY LISTEN TO MY STORY 1ST, THEY WHERE NOT LIKE,HELL NO WE ARE NOT FIXING IT LOL.And something else they said to me was,we are not really going to ? anything about 3rd gear it would be a differnet story if it was 1st gear because we could see you where taking off in it hard. They said are cars have alot of problems with that gear.So i went back home after i got my car back and i mad a copy of the dealer telling me i have a warranty and that my local dealer even put the wrong tranny fluid in it haha and i ask for the service manager slam down the copy and walk out with a big *** smile on my face hahahahh.Just look for a dealer. There are good ones out there.ERIC

Its very easy to do. It can be done with any PCM.

You plug the DRBIII in talk to the PCM and program the new VIN and SKIM key into it in one of the programs the DRB has. You can also adjust the mileage in the PCM to match the odometer reading, but it cannot be adjusted any lower and does not affect the odo reading at all.

The reason THEY need the car and flight systems doesn't, is because FS does it entirely different. They need the PCM in the car, plugged in and ready to go, because your DRB port is underneath the dash. FS has something that goes directly into the PCM without a vehicle being needed.

Find another dealer, don't even bother arguing with them, its 100% not worth it.

Oh and DO NOT put the Stage II injectors and sensors in without the PCM, you'll throw more codes than you could ever imagine. Plus you'll be dumping more fuel without a way to control it (i.e. the PCM or an SAFC/DTEC type device) and running the car way too rich causing damage. Wait for a reflash, then install everything at once.
