should i buy a 2003 srt-4?
Don't take my reply as a disrespect. You'd be suprised how many time's a day I talk to someone that has no idea what they are getting themselves into. From our experience with modding whether it be aftermarket from different vendor's or mopar aftermarket, it all depend's on 1. what you are installing and 2. supporting mods. I've gone through just about anything you can think of from my car. From stock to a AGP 50 trim turbo w/ all supporting mods to a Mopar stage 3 kit. Granted my car can be quite a handful sometime's but that's what's involved when modifying your car. You having experience with a kenne bell stang would know just as well us me
Reliabilty can be had with with either case. It's how you piece your car together is what you should be concerned over. I've had people with bolt on mopar kits go through disaster's, i've had people come in with huge aftermarket turbo's and drive to work everyday without a problem. It's just that unpredictable.

agreed some people mod there cars with just a different wastegate, other do the same expecting the same results and everything goes down hill from there. Its weird that some cars respond correctly to mods as other's are more irretible towards more power ect.....

Thanks for the info and as my sig shows, I plan on a Stage 2 (no toys) and the Mopar cat delete and CB exhaust. Hope I won't be wasting my money, but I hope to get decent results and I do plan on sticking with "Mopar" parts/kits.
If you have to buy used you should get the most for your money, especially since you don't know how it's been treated.
The '03's are likely to be slightly cheaper, it's the only year for the yellow color, the only other option than color is the front seats (Viper or regular Neon side impact airbag, which is optional on all 3 years) and they have smaller fuel injectors and lack a LSD. The '04's are the best they made as they came with the Stage 1 injectors and LSD, had the added options of a sunroof and the Kicker stereo available and they dynoed higher than the '03's and the '05's. The '04's are the only year available in blue. The '05's are the same as the '04's except for they have an ACR version available, they have optional colors of orange and of white for that year only and for some odd reason they dyno slightly less than the '04's and are not as mod friendly as the '03's and '04's, I guess their programming is a little different.

Must be ways to get around the '05 mod problem because I know of a white '05 that is into the low to mid 11's (pretty sure about that) and with "the next mod" hopes to be in the high 10's. Hasn't spent much money yet. If you're at the GTO forums you've probably seen postings from GTOdealer. He had a 600+ whp GTO and is currently on his 2nd SRT4 - calls the car "Radio". From what I've read, he is "way beyond a Stage 3R" (w/toys) type of setup...and seems like he's only spent about $2.0 -$2.5k on his mods.

Yeah, you'll appreciate the LSD if you get a chance to drive an '03 and then an '04/'05.

the lsd barely makes a difference in day to day driving. if you're gonna go run limerock or do massive autoxing then yea, but an lsd isn't as major a difference as people think it is.
