Default Major Problems 05 SRT4

I am having major problems with my 05 SRT4. I have had it just over a year and have less than 19K miles. I installed a Stage 3 kit and have had it on for about 6 weeks. I would lie if I said that I have never seen what it can do but only very few times. And my Tone Ring broke. When I had the Stage 3 installed I was told by 2 dealerships that my warranty was still good. But when it broke down on me I had to have it towed to another dealership. And they will NOT even look at it. The 2 dealerships that I originally talked to 1 of them....the one that installed the parts....have completely lied and said that they never told me that it would NOT void my warranty! They now say that they told me that it WOULD void it. But the other one said that they would do it as warranty work....but they can't because the one turned it a report to Chrysler and if they try to do any work as warranty. That Chrysler will deny it. I am already looking at $2000 and not everything has been looked at. And a dealership is NOT doind this work. A trusted family mechanic is doing the work. He also told me that my PISTONS are going to be replaced. PLEASE HELP what can I do????

well, unless you have anything in writing its your word against theirs. you might be stuck forking out the cash. read up on the stage upgrades. even though they are offered by mopar they have NO warranty. there is a sticky, mopar performance parts and your warranty here https://dodgeforum.com/m_265234/tm.htm

best of luck with it

According to the law, your dealer must show that the mods to your car caused the failure. That said, I'm sure the litigation costs with a lawyer, missed time at school/work, etc. are going to run you as much, if not more, than the repair costs.

It's not just Dodge that won't warrant mods to their cars......lots of brands will void the warranty if you add on "performance parts" or don't change the oil when you're supposed to.....

Hey that brings me to my next ? If I do talk to a lawyer what are my options. Because the dealership damaged my car. And if they can't prove that the Stage 3 damaged it then what? I have been told that since the car was cranked with the broken tone ring. That it warped my pistons. And the dealership admitted to me that they made the car crank and run but as soon as they let off the clutch that it died again. I am royally screwed basically right!!!

The dealership has to be able to prove that the Stage 3 caused or contributed to the failure, plain, simple period. If you're not getting any satisfaction from the dealer and you've talked to the Service Manager at the dealership tell him you want to talk to the regional factory representative. Any dealership knows that one pissed off customer cost more money though word of mouth than the cost of the warranty repair. The dealership is stuck in the middle now at this point though, you need to keep going up the ladder until you bitch enough someone in a position of authority will just want you out of their hair. Be polite, be cool, don't **** people off except by being persistent. You can also try a 50/50 split on the cost of the repair and it's a win for Chrysler and a smaller loss for you. Most factory reps love making 50/50 deals cause it doesn't really cost them much and they keep you as a semi happy customer.

Already went down that route and they just told me NO....sorry to bad! But I have spoke with a lawyer and I am told that I may have a case in the Alabama Lemon Law because of the many other problems that I have had besides this one. And I have paper to prove these problems and it is NO COST to me the dealership has to pay the lawyer or atleast their pay is decided in the settlement amount. That is the road that I am headed down now....and I am filing reports with the BBB....Better Business Bureau....and they also can make a claim in this one. Either way it goes I am going to get rid of the SRT I hate to see it go but it will be better in the long run.....Hello 2000 Camaro SS

And one other thing I forgot about...There is no possible way that they can prove that the Stage 3 caused the damage.....because they didn't even know what was wrong with it. And after 2 weeks they just said come and get your car we don't want it here anymore. That is exactly what they said. And I have been told by the mechanic that is actually fixing my car that the dealership actually damaged my car more. So I am going to court over this one........ITS NOT OVER

I have only been involved in one Lemon law case back when I was a Technician at a dealership. The lady took the manufacturer to court because of some inherent problems with the car. The court ruled in favor of the customer ( they usually do ). The lady got to keep the car while the manufacturer had to refund the purchase price of the car. It was a hell of a deal for that lady. The courts look at the manufacturers as having deep pockets and they lean towards the customers side of things. I'm surprised Chrysler wants to go this route.
