Default Stuff I have to buy once

After reading all the post about the srt-4 I've compiled a list of things that I have to get once I get my new car or I'm most likely going to have problems sooner or later.

1.turbo timer
2.Catch can
3.booger pushers
4.spark plug wires.
5.ground strap
6.undercoat
7.

Anything I left out? Kind of disappointing I have to add so much stuff to a new car. Wonder if I should wait for the 05's to see if they add some of this stuff?

Save your money on a turbo timer and take a minute out of your day to let the engine and turbo cool off before shutting it off. And just think, that money could go for getting you a blow off valve.

Crap I knew i forgot something I need to get a blow off valve as well. YOur right 71 roadrunner I should save the money on the turbo timer. I usually am early to all my appointments and can spare a few minutes to let things cool down.

Anything else?

Yeah, I would recommend a turbo timer if it were a race only car, but it is unnecessary for a daily driver, modified or not. Synthetic oil is a must(after a few thousand miles to let the motor break-in, although some new cars come with synthetic in them already). Don't forget to free up some horsepower and sound with a high flow catalytic converter.

Hey, 71 Roadrunner. I heard you can buy a straight pipe to swap out with the catalytic and it's a easy five minute job. Then when it's inspection time put the cat back on and get the safety. I know all the environmental bad stuff I'm doing, but I live in houston texas and over in pasadena you should see the pollution coming out of the refineries. Does or government penalize them? Hell, no because they are big money. I bet five minutes of one of those stacks blowing crap into the atmosphere is probably two years of me driving without a cat.

Oh, Well, screw it were all going to die. I JUst wanna go fast in the mean time.

You sound just like me on that.LOL The straight pipe switch is ideal, the only drawback is if the SRT-4's have a rear(after the catalytic converter) O2 sensor. If it does it will more than likely make the check engine light come on and stay on. It will not effect the way it runs, it will just have the light on. Most speed shops like Jegs and Summit have O2 simulators that keep the check engine light from coming on. I'm all for it, a turbo is it's own back pressure, so have at it and keep lining them up and knockin' 'em down.

I wouldn't mess with the cat. It's never as easy as it sounds and it's not worth the gains IMO. The SRT already has no mufflers and it's very high flow. As far as your BOV goes, make sure youor your shop knows whatthey'redoing. It is tricky in the SRT because it has an OBDII computer. The BOV has to be installed on the hot side of the intercooler underneath the car.Nothing installs in the SRT as easily as it does on other turbo cars.

Yes, get an oil catch can and plug wires. Use synthetic right away too. They come with 10W30 synth from the factory and that's the recommended oil in the manual. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!! especially oil changes on a turbocharged car.

Oh yeah... and get Eibach springs with professional installation. It's totally ok with Mopar and WOW, what a difference in handling.

I've been playing with my SRT for a while now and I've learned a lot along the way.... I'll help whenever I can!

Just thought you might like to know, the stage 1 and up do NOT read the downstream O2 sensor, therefor you won't get that annoying CEL.
