Default srt-4 manual help

Hey
I dont know much about the 2003 srt-4. I know that each car is different when you should shift up to get the fastest performance. I was wondering at which rpm should i shift at each gear to get the fastest possiable performance.

thanks

Read the manual that comes with the car.

It gives you three different scenarios. One is performance, one is regular, one is for optimal gas mileage. It gives you MPH and RPM if Im not mistaken.

For maximum acceleration (what I'm guessing is what your after) as close to 5600 rpm as possible for each gear is about right. That is for a stock car with no mods. You may want to initiate the 1-2 shift a little early since the rpm's are climbing so fast in first. So if you shift at say 5400 rpm from 1 to 2 you'll be ok. There is nothing but noise and excessive engine wear to be had shifting beyond 5800 (in a stock engined car)and you will not e.t. any quicker. This is a long stroke, small turbo engine with very mild cams. It makes very good low speed torque and midrange power. Forget whatever you may know about Hondas and don't listen to thier drivers shifting advice. They know nothing of this cars powerband. Torque is an abstract concept to them.
