Welcome back! Yeah AETC (the old ATC in my day) was always trying to act tough since they don't have a combat mission...
yeah- funny how these guys w/ no combat time try to tell me how to fly my airplane, which I've been flying in combat zones for 2 years... but that's a little off topic, I suppose...
Hey, I just noticed your avitar....cool pic!! I have one like that taken from the boomer's window somewhere over Montana with a Montana ANG aircraft getting a "drink"....[&:]

Yeah- mine's from the other end- I took this one sitting from the right seat (and unlike some of the other pics I've seen posted recently, you won't find this one somewhere else on the 'net- i.e.- it's the real deal).[sm=smiley2.gif]
Roach- I fly C-17's (aka "Barney", or Fred's (C-5) little friend- although (and w/no offense to Gump intended) we do quite a bit more than Fred- most of our flying is tactical rather than strategic, so we spend most of our time in the AOR (Iraq and Afghanistan right now)). The H-60 is pretty sweet- I've been debating X-flowing into helos- I love the mission and being down in the dirt. If I go I'll go to MH-60's (PaveHawk) or MH-53's (PaveLow), the spec-ops birds. We'll see. I still don't know if I'm brave (or crazy) enough for that job.[sm=smiley5.gif]

Then im one cravy-brave ****...
. I've flown in both of those helo's. Though, some missions were scarier than others[sm=smiley3.gif][sm=smiley34.gif]....
See if you get some Sim time where you at... then fly for the PJ's... lets say i enjoyed workin for them...

We actually do quite a bit of spec-ops stuff in the C-17, we have a STS (Special Tactics Squadron- Combat Controllers (CCT), Combat WX, and PJ's) at McChord that we support- but we're much better protected than you guys are- I know the military says that a soldier's life is the most valuable asset but it's funny how much more protection a $250 millon airplane w/ 3 people in it gets than a 7 million dollar helo w/ 5 people in it gets. I got nothin' but respect for you guys- you definitely earn your pay and more!
