Mike, thanks for your help. The following is from All Data and an earlier post from PSI Chick, I a m going to put it back up here in case anyone else with a 2005 gets it.

P2074-manifold Pressure/throttle Position Correlation

CORRELATION - HIGH
FLOW/VACUUM LEAK
When Monitored: Engine Running, during all drive modes.
Set Condition: If vacuum drops below 1.5 Hg with engine RPM greater than 2000 RPM
at closed throttle.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
GOOD TRIP EQUAL TO ZERO
VACUUM LEAK
HIGH RESISTANCE IN MAP (K7) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN MAP (K7) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
MAP SENSOR
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K1) MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN (K1) MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K4) MAP GROUND CIRCUIT
PCM
TP SENSOR OPERATION
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K6) TP SENSOR 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN (K6) TP SENSOR 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
TP SENSOR
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K22) TP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN (K22) TP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT
HIGH RESISTANCE IN TP (K4) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

seems like this is a problem in the 05's that don't have the reflash done. it's usually found otherwise in conjunction with overboost codes. is this the only code that you are throwing?

lol, well, the throttle body adapter o'ring is on the adapter after all. I found instructions for some other throttle bodies which specified the need to take the o'ring off the old and put on the new, anyway the MpX throttle body obviously came with one so I'm back to the drawing board. The good news is Howell shipped my Stage 1 today so we'll see if that fixes the car. It's such a drag driving a car like an SRT-4 and knowing every Kia on the road can kick your *** in a race because you'll set a cel. I don't drive the car hard but I hope when I get the stage 1 this throttle body works o.k with it so I can at least beat the next Kia Rio I see at the light
