Oil Pressure Tap for SRT 4
I am installing an oil pressure gage on the A-Pillar. My question: is there another place to tap oil pressure on the block other than the OEM low pressure light sending unit on the back side of the block.
I installed my sending unit on the head on the drivers side. Works fine but I hear the pressure reading is not as high as off the stock unit. As long as it's sensing pressure it's fine with me. If the link doesn't work use the search option and type in oil pressure sending unit and select the srt-4 section.

Thanks for the repsonse, got the gage hooked up yesterday. Based on your response and link, I checked out both the plug on the right side of the oil pan and the back plug on the drivers side of the head and that is the one I used. The 1/8 NPT plug was the same size as the sending unit, and eliminated any other connections or reducers. With a cold engine, Mobile 1 5W30 oil, the pressure indicates between 65-70 on initial start up. Once at operating temperature, cruising on the highway it generally runs 45-50 PSI.
Glad I could help. When I first decided to purchase an oil gauge ( Mopar with SRT logo from Modern Performance ) I read all the posts and decided to install the sending unit on the drivers side of the head. Easier install, especially the direct fit without additional hardware. I've had it for two years (summer driver only) and it reads approx. 70 at start up and drops down to approx. 20 when warmed up. I also run mostly highway with Mobil 1 5W30.
