I've tried this twice. Short and sweet this time. source is Allpar.com, who gets it from stated sources. Look up both 2.0 (which states categorically the 2.0 engine is a Dodge design) and 2.4 (which is stated as a derivative of the 2.0) which is a Mexican design.

The only connection Mits has with this motor is the turbo itself.

The 2.4L turbo in the SRT-4's are in no way, shape and or form related what so ever to any of the Mitsubishi 2.0L engines turbo or non-turbo. The 2.4L turbo engines are all American except for the turbocharger, which is a Mitsubishi turbocharger, and the fact that they are assembled at the Mexico plant. Other than that, they are 100% American designed and engineered. They have been using the 2.4L turbo in the Dodge Stratus' that are built exclusively for Mexico, they are not available here in the US. [sm=smiley2.gif]

If you want to really stick it to the ones that keep telling you that your 2.4L is the same as an Eclipse 2.0L, then I've got just the bit of info you can through back at them. The non-turbo 2.0L DOHC motors that are in the Mitsubishi Eclipses are 100% all American. They are the exact same 2.0L DOHC motors that are in the Neon's, except that they put the head on backwards for the Japanese versions, since they seem to be backwards anyway. Other than the head being on backwards though, it IS the 100% US production Neon motor.[sm=smiley2.gif][sm=smiley36.gif]

I have both a 2.0 eclipse engine and a 2.4 turbo engine... before i got the srt i was goin to do an engine swap to a turbo eclipse engine, but to my dismay they are two totally different engines. the 2.0 eclipse engine is an american engine and the turbo engine is from japan. who ever is telling u this is totally retarded because just looking at the two engines would tell u that there not the same at all. O yeah if anyone wants a 98 eclipse i got one for sale
