You can kill two birds with one stone and upgrade to a better set of wires like MSD that will send more juice to your plugs AND resist the heat much, much better.........

I don't know ihow much the shield helps but I don't see how it can hurt. For $20, what the hell, I added to my order for the plugs and wires I bought from Modern.

Does the MPx shield protect the wires or the coil?

I think it protects both, hey dusty i do have the msd wires, but they were a pretty penny just wanted to protect them as much as possible but i guess like talisman said they are only 20 so i ended up getting it, that turbo does get hot.

thanks guys

I agree, I used to sit in traffic a lot and almost bought the MPx shield, their front STB works great, so I figured the shield would too. Now, thanks to different work hours, I don't have the problem of sitting in traffic and the resulting heat build up......

I had one one for a LONG time & for $15-20 I thought it was a safe investment. Can't tell ya if it works or not since I've never checked but it's worth the cash considering there is already so much heat back there.

It significantly lowers coilpack temperatures. By lowering coilpack temperatures, it allows the coil to function better. It also prevents the wires from heating up. I dont have the MPx, I have the Glacial Graphics heat shield, but I notice a difference. The wires are much healthier, and even after spirited driving you can put your hand on the coil and rest it there.

By the way, it would be spelt Solenoid....

haha come on. It doesn't do that much of a difference Crystal. Help keep the coilpack cool? Perhaps. I have the Glacial Graphics one installed in my car as well and it's all show. We have plenty of big turbo car's w/ no shields not showing a difference. I do agree however that it's a decent investment though.
