New Here.. I searched but couldn't find what I was looking for...
the wiring is a royal pain in the butt. expect that alone to take you anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on how good at it you are. the n2mb box is a simpler install from what i understand (never installed it myself).
I've already got the toys wired (thank goodness, took me a good 3 hours) so is the rest of the stg 3 install relatively straight forward? Is the turbo/manifold/02 housing assembly better going in from the top? The fuel pump is also going to be a pain I assume. I'm upgrading from a stg 2 w toys.
do yourself a favor and get a walboro 255 and use that instead of the one that comes with s3, you'll just end up replacing it anyway. it's not that bad to do, just make sure you have no gas in the car! the turbo is easiest going in from the top, the directions go into taking down crossmembers and all this other crap that is just not needed. just remove the top and bottom motor mounts and rotate the motor forward and it slips right in.
Yeah taking turbos out from the bottom is what DCX recommends too. I looked at the entire setup, and at the hole they wanted it to come out of and said YEAH ALRIGHT!! Easiest way for the stock one is just to remove the battery and slide it out the side. As for S3, I'd go with what PSIChick said since its larger than the stock turbo.
Well I ran into another problem of finding a dealer to install a clutch over here in England. I haven't looked in depth but it costs an arm and leg to get work done over here. I was looking at the Clutchmasters Stage 3 with Plate, but are there any other good brands out there? I might as well scratch Stage 3 until I get a dealer that can install a clutch.
i would highly recommend NOT getting a s3 clutch. they are very rough and behave poorly on the street. if you're going to go clutchmasters, a s4 6 puck would be a better choice. there's also the ACT clutches. i would suggest staying away from centerforce, they seem to be hit or miss, and when you're talking about $1000 installed you don't want a miss.
Ok sweet... sounds good, you guys should see the list I have just from this forum. I'm going to have the money soon for a stage 3 but I want to be able to ge that clutch in and go and no risk damaging the car having a Stage 3 without a new clutch. Anyway, thanks for the info on the motor mounts, that gives me a chance to do them all at the same time when I do the turbo install since I'm going to be moving them anyway. I'd like to install parts without having to uninstall and re-install something else I just put on. Where can I get a Walboro 255 and is it hard to install?
