rigging the factory intake for more power/sound
lets say i wanted to rig my factory pipe (take out the box and just have an open filter) until i can get a CAI. what would i need to do with those 3 sensors on the box? where would i put them so it wouldnt throw a code?
man your kinda psyco when it comes to sound and stuff..lmao....look just save your money and buy the whole thing....you can buy some real cheap CAIs in ebay...they're not the best thing out there but way better than a filter on a stock pipe, and saves you all these questions.First mod you should buy is an OCC....then you can go from there to other important stuff.Oh and take my word for it, go to a muffler shop and tell them to take the resonator or cat you got on your exhaust and put a piece of pipe instead....you know like running 2'5 all the way back....that'll give you the sound you're looking for, i know 2 guys who've done it and the car runs no different than before, and sound badass!!!!Plus they shoot small flames out of the tips when they powershift.
all through high school i did the honda thing and was in love with turbos/SC's and in love with the way they sound. now that i actually got a turbo'd car i want to know that its turbo'd and i want to hear that little booger doin its thing. unfortunately i dont know that much about turbos and not sure what will give me the sound i want thats why i keep asking. but like i said..i took the cat off (not the resonators) & replaced it with 2.5 pipe. that did not give me what i was lookin for. i like the way it sounds but still cant hear the turbo like i want. so youre thinkin 3" all the way through would give me the sound im after? could i leave the very end section as is? and i still need to know about the intake ordeal..could i just mount those on the battery tray maybe or the strut tower?
the metailc piping on the cai will make the turbo and the flutter sound more noticable. and mopar bov conversion (blue plate) will sound like a truck's brakes when it releases (its only 60 bucks). as for the exhaust, 2.5 or 3" w/ cat delete will give you a real nice sound (althoug this is subjective to each person, same for the mopar plate you love it or hate it). actually, the cai i have has a bracket to mount those 3 selonyds on the battery tray. im sure you could easily fabricate one if you bought an intake that didnt have one. just be careful of cheap intakes, if anything breaks off and gets sucket in, bye bye turbo blades.
i think you're trying to make chicken salad out of chicken ****. the only way you're going to sound like a big truck with the turbo whining the whole time(like my cummins ram) is to get a big truck or spend lots of money fixing up the srt. my srt has a good whine when i get on it. all i have is a 2 1/2 intake and the mopar exhaust for noise. it's a small turbo so you're not going to hear it all the time. save up some money and get the right stuff and do the car justice. don't do any ghetto mods cause you'll just be embarrassed when you meet another srt and they look under your hood

im not talking about leaving the stock intake like that for more than a month or so. trust me, im not that guy you see with a 2 ft wing, chrome tip, and chrome spinner hubcaps on a 88 civic. ive been doin the import thing since 98' but dont know a whole lot about turbos. and i dont want the "truck" sound. i want the srt-turbo sound that i keep hearing on other srt's and just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on how they might have achieved that. i do appreciate all the feedback however ive already done what was mentioned and still not getting the results i was lookin for. ill figure it out. thank yall though so very much for all the help
but I've told you like 1000000000000 times man[:@]....get a 3' catback exhaust, no resonators, no mufflers, straight pipes and you'll hear that turbo whisle at idle, mine does it, and all my mods are listed below so i don't see why yours won't too.Or you can just leave it with your downpipe only for a while, and when you get some money than get the exhaust done. It's gonna be a little bit noise, well a lot!!!But that will give you a good example of how your exhaust is gonna sound after you get it done. It's gonna be a bit less noisier and will sound a lot smoother.Hope this helps....don't make me post this again!!!!lol
