Hey guys i dont have a gallery up yet because my digi camera broke and i would rather spend the money on upgrade parts. Ill have photos soon though. Ive been reading through posts on this board and i must say you guys really know your stuff.

To the point......The previous owner of my srt4 didnt do anything other than an intake and performance cat. (still learning)....From posts here i can tell that an OCC is an important device to install. There currently is no catch can installed in this car. Im worried that the 40k miles on this car by a previous owner might have sludged things up a bit because he never got on these forums to learn.

How do i go about checking for sludge build up?
What should i be on the look out for or what should concern me?

Also if you guys have any advice for me that might save me down the road please let me know. Im trying to learn all i can, so that i can make sure my car is trouble free before i start modding it. I dont have the money to make costly mistakes so i need to take it slow and right.

 

to look for oil build-up you should check around your intercooler pipes (both sides) and inside the intake manifold, which means some disassembly. i have around 40k on my car and have not put my occ on yet....just too lazy[:@]... but will be very soon. that is something that is important as any other mod though! my advice is take your time, do your research, and like you said...do it right the first time!

 

oh, dont forget to grab a cheap digicam off ebay or somethin. you can get a low end digi so cheap anymore. besides, you may end up needing to post pics of problems you might encounter.


and yup, take off your piping and you may even consider removing your intercooler (which is a bit more of a day off kind of job) and clean em out good. you can use simplegreen inside it, its fairly safe to use, just rinse it out really well to make sure anything in it comes out. best bet would be to let it dry overnight.

oh, i almost forgot to mention: GET AN OCC ON IT ASAP!!!

Update, how do i figure out if the previous owner went with the Stage 1 from Mopar? My car behaves differently than a clean stock SRT4...i drove a bone stock SRT4 last night and my car definitely has more *****, Mine is an 04 and i drove a bone stock 04, even the other guy drove mine and thought it had more *****. Now i have to figure out what was done to mine....this is gonna be tough. My camera will get here in 3 days. Then i can put up a gallery.

 

Check the PCM which is located right behind the driver side headlight and read it. it should say stage one. or check the part number believe stock is 05034204AC
