Default Boost Gauge Question

I have a question about my boost gauge. I was driving my car today (05 with a K&N SAI) and noticed when it was in my driveway running at idle the gauge was reading 22 on vac. When i shut it off it reads 11 or 12 on the vac. In first i get around 5 or 6 psi, the rest of the gears i get no more than 8. I live in Bradenton FL, just south of Tampa and the weather today was 54. Does anyone know if i am having a problem, or is this just normal. My future mods will be a Stage 2 w/o toys and a Maxxfab 3 inch all the way back and a new JMB 3" CAI. These mods are coming very soon, and if i need to replace somthing due to my boost gauge problem then i will. PLEASE HELP!

not normal....When you shut the car off the needle should stand at 0.stock boost should be from 11psi to 15psi.You might have a boost leak or your gauge is busted. Both things happened to me, so I suggest you get another boost gauge because sooner or later it will brake, and check for leaks. There should be a thread here showing how to make a boost leak tester, if not then check on srtforums.com.Hope this helps, I live in West palm beach, Fl....you should come to check our track out...although I hear Orlando's track is much better then Moroso

The stock boost gauge in the SRT4 is notorious for not reading correctly. I purchased my car brand new with 12 miles on it, and mine read about 3 psi in the vacuum side when the car was turned off. That's not so bad so I don't worry about it. There are some really good aftermarket gauges that fit the stock pod, they run 30 bucks roughly for mechanical gauges (like the one you have now, only more reliable) or you can opt for the digital gauges that run about 50 to 70 dollars. Either way it's a decent upgrade. Another nice thing about the aftermarket gauges is they read higher PSI, if you are really going crazy with a big turbo upgrade, that's really nice to have.
