Wheels and Tires Help Please
What size wheels and tires do some of you guys or girls suggest. I have come to the sad realization that the OEM wheels SUCK! No performance tire will fit. I was wondering what width of wheel to get and how would the fit be. I don't want the tires to stick out from the side of the fender well. But if it has to than I would like it to be very very minimal. And what kind of tires would be good. I want a street drag radial that will hook up and not spin when I hammer it is 2nd gear. I have a stage 3 kit and I realize that it will be hard not to spin with the extra power. But I want to spin the smallest amount possible. I have heard that the BF Goodrich drag radials are really good and I know that they are really good. That is the tires that I would like to have. But any help would be very appreciated
umm I dunno bro....but if you need help with wheel spin go to rage-tek.com and look up their control arm bushing upgrade, psichick says it helps a lot, that will be my next mod.
Thanks man I will look into that and I met a guy with some 17x8 inch wheels on his 05 SRT4 with 225 tires and I will keep that size in mind any additional advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
most 17x8's won't fit on stock suspension without spacers, so you'll have to either have co's or a big set of spacers.
if you have co's, you can go as wide as a 245 on a 8" rim, but there might potentially be rubbing issues depending on the tire/rim combination. a 235 would be a better choice just to ensure that there won't be any issue, but you can run a 245 if you want.
as for what tires, ifyou're looking for just dry performance bfg dr's are a great choice, but you'll really want them on a 15" rim. if you want a summer tire that you can run on a 17" rim then there are plenty of choices. the kdw 2's are pretty good, eagle f1's, and more....check on tirerack for some good options.
