Default RAM Driver from Germany

Hi there,

my name is Heiko. I am 33 years old and come from Germany.

Since the year 2000( remember CruiserY2K :-) it has been a dream of me,
to have an original, american fullsize Pick Up Truck.
So, two years ago, ihave realizedmy dream and bought a
2001 RAM 1500 Quad Cab 4WD, Laramie SLT + with the 5,9 litre Magnum V8engine.
YEAH !!! That“s my way of life !!!

It was not easy to get such a truck, because you cannot order a Dodge RAM
overa officialChrysler Dealer in Germany.Chrysler don“t sellsthe Dodge RAM ineurope.
Then i have found myRAMviawww at a US Import Car Dealer in Austria:
used car, 56000 km - not miles, it“s a canada model, firsthand in top condition.
Thetruck was 2001 sold and exported to Austria as a "new, unusedcar"
(i hope you understandwhat i want to tell you*lol* )

Then I have bought the truck in Austria, imported to germany and modified
to getthe german vehicle registration certificate - you call it "title" in the usa
( a hard work - the motor vehicle lawisvery crazy here)

I like pimping my ride, need some technical informations
and would like to establish new contacts to nice people from the united states.

By the way: i am a member of the moderator-group in the first
and biggest german Dodge-Forum

Last but not least: i want to have fun in this forum and try to brush up my english,
so please forgive me ifi writebull**** *lol*

Greetz CruiserY2K

... and this is my truck in current optic

Hi guys,

many thanks for the warm welcome [sm=smiley20.gif]

@HighDuke1911:
i do not live nearly to Stuttgart or Frankfurt, i live in the west of Germany,
( North Rhine-Westphalia, NRW )
Mytown is called Goch near the dutch limit.
The next great towns are Köln and Düsseldorf, perhaps you know the german " Ruhrgebiet"

@dustyloins:
You live for almost 10 years in germany ? ... but the cars were too small here
and therefore you have gone back into the usa, right ?? [sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif] *LOL*

Ihave never visited the united states yet,
but it“s a wishgoing once on holydaythere.

I was with the Army stationed in Nelligen Kaserne, near Stuttgart from 1967-1972. My mother came over to the US from Berlin. My Father's parents came from Frankfurt. We spoke mostly German until I was 8 because Oma didn't speak English.I reallyloved your beautiful country while I was there.

Hi VA4MEDS,

thank you for the nice posting.
Yes, Germany is ok but unfortunately, everything is regulated very strictly.
Sometimes i hate it here -it“s toocrazy.
For example ifyou wants to drive aUS Pick Up Truckin Germany.

It was a great effort toget thegerman title for the Dodge,
for example the lights had to be modified, the towing group and electrichad ro chanced,
in addition, I needed special approvals for the front guard, the headlamps,
cornerlights, taillights, exhaust system, waste gas values and much more.
The german "TÜV"- a kind oftechnological supervision organization for motor vehicles
told me, that there are no German check character exist.
Logical !!! -- it is an import car!

But than i found a cool guy, we call him "The Capt“n" in our forum,
an he helped me to take the RAM on the streets - YES !!!

so long...

Heiko
