I need to swap the 8.0 out of my truck and I'd like to replace it with a 5.9. It has to get better mileage and it probably won't be hugely down on power. Has anyone out there done this swap and I'd like to know about the pitfalls before I'm up to my elbows in motor oil. Also this is my work truck and I don't have unlimited time to get it back on the road. It has a 727 transmission and it's a 4x4.
