Dodge T-Rex checking in
Howdy all,
I usually hang out at the off -road forums, but i came across this one and I had to join. Great site!!!
I can be considered a real Mopar Maniac. My first car was a 1968 Charger. I have owned since then five 68 Chargers, one 68 RT Charger, one 73 Chanllenger, 2 84 Daytonas, Two military Dodge Power Wagons, one Macho Power Wagon, several Jeeps, 4 Rams, 5 Ramchargers, a Raider, and several other odds and ends....
My favorite Dodge is the Dodge T-Rex 6x6. When they were prototyped in 1997 I called the dealer and told him to put me on the waiting list. As you all know when the Germans took over Chrysler, Dr. Z said; " Why would anyone need a truck this extreme.." I DO!!!!!! But they did not listen. So when Dodge cancelled the project I decided to build my own.
I started with a 96 Dodge single cab V-10 4x4. We began to build our own T-Rex 6x6. Half way through the projectthe word got out about what we were doing. That is when I got contacted by Dodge. They sponsored us in our build and paid for the body work and paint job. Others lined up to sponsor us. Line-ex, Detroit Lockers, Interco Tires, KC lights, Rock Logic, Autozone, and others. While I had contacts with mother mopar I asked about the prototypes. We began discussing the idea of sellling one of them. The price was out of my range, so we also built a tow rig that was 6-wheel drive.
The T-Rex 6x6 was a hit. We hit the competition circuit and the T-rex has been a dominant force in off-road competitions. We have taken first place in rock races, rock crawling, mud bogs, safaries, Hill climbs, etc.... this Truck is almost unstopable. It has been in 13 magazines, and featured in 57 web pages world wide. It has been on 3 TV shows, and the T-rex can bee seen in the X-box game Ultimate Off-road challenge.
We have been beating on the T-rex for 7 years of extreme off road abuse and it still keeps going. It is all stock except for the axles and suspension and extra cab.. It now has 144,000 miles on it, and it has had water up to the windows several times. The Infinity sound system still works great.

Here are pictures of the other Dodge T-Rex 6x6 we owned. This was a Cummins powered tow rig with six wheel drive. This thing could tow!!!!
