Reliability observation - Dodge vs. Chevy/GM
The Dak in MacDak means Dakota - my '93 which has been one tough truck! I have been a member here for a couple years, but never posted here, only in other sections. I also have a '96 Chevy 1500 I got from a friend.
I also read GM/Chevy forums and a couple of Dodge forums. An interesting observation is that I notice many more problems posted on the Chevy forums than on the Dodge forums. Not to mention Ford! If my unscientific observation and instincts can be trusted, I would say from reading the forum posts on 3 different brands, Dodge is definitely more reliable!
Not to mention my own personal experience with my present Chevy: fuel pump - $700, wheel cylinder leak - $100, power steering line leak - $125, transmission rebuild - $1,600... and now, radiator is leaking somewhere. Plus, all the intake manifold gasket problems Chevys have; mine is good so far... but I am concerned. Don't have much confidence in Chevys anymore. Looking for a truck, and found a fantastic high end GM - leather, heated seats, etc., 4WD, just the amenities I want, but... it is not a Dodge

My 02 Ram has 105,485 miles on it, and so far, the only work it's had done apart from regular maintenance is replaced the front brake rotors and one of the taillight socket strips. Also, one of the LEDs that illuminate the speedo is burnt out. My roommate however, has a 02 Silverado, with 86k miles on it. And he just spent $2200 fixing the power steering and front wheel drive system. And I know within the last year he had to fix the AC and the front shocks. He gave me so much sh*t when I bought a Dodge, and went on and on about how his Chevy was a better truck. His repairs: ~$3750, mine: $461. I win
