Default New Dodge Ram Diesel owner/kind of.

Hi to everyone.
I have owned a 24 Valve Cummins sense 2000 in my Frieghtliner FL 60 flatbed. I have had my problems with the lift pump/injection pump. I put two on it before I installed a prefilter for the lift pump along with a low pressure light. The truck has close to 250000 miles and still runs like new.
We had an autorepair shop for 29 years and just lost it to fire in April of this year. One of my best customers is a good friend of mine that owns a 97 extended 2wd 5sp 12V diesel. He is just about to turn 500000. His truck has been a great truck. Some problems were the killer dowl pin and a fuel shut off relay. His truck averages about 20-22 mpg.
My shop truck is a 1994 Chev 3/4 ton 4x4 and it just lost its motor. So I started looking for a different truck. I found a nice 1998 Dodge 2500 extended 2wd, 5sd with the 24 valve Cummins. The interiour is like new. The outside is pretty nice with some need of repair. There is no rust just some scratches and a few dents. The truck has a K&N air filter, straight thru exhust, and Hypertec programmer. The previous owner claimed the truck will get 29 mpg on secondary roads. I am on my first tank of fuel so I am not sure what it gets. I have 290 miles and just above 5/8s of a tank of fuel.
I love this truck! It sounds awesome, runs awesome and fun to drive. She needs a little work but I don't mind. Just got the cruise working today. Needed a new Cruise servo. Tomorrow I will work on the windshield washers. One sprays a little and the other not at all.
My truck has 280000 miles and I am not too worried. It has a new clutch and a new lift pump/inj pump about 60000 miles ago.
I want to thank every one for this fourm and all the info.
Bruce
P.S. My Chevy would get about 230 miles to a tank of fuel. The truck drank fuel and still had no power. I don't think I am going to miss it.
