New to the site!
Hey everyone!
Was poking around and came across this site. Since I've had my Dakota since early 98, thought I'd sign up and share/learn more about my wheels.
Just finishing replacing the rear main seal and up graded to a HO oil pump. Tired of the wide fluctuations in oil pressure and having an oil slick in the drive! Man, yet another learning experience for what should have been a 4 hour job. Just getting the oil pan off was painful. Too bad they didn't make it about 1" thinner on the front side of the sump. It would have slide out with no problems.
I have now become an unofficial certified Dodge technician after all the wrench twisting through the years LOL!
Guess it's like everything else, some good, some not. I have a truck that was made on a late Friday afternoon before a 2 week plant shut down. Still, when it's running right, it's strong and fun to drive.
Hope you all have had a good & safe holiday weekend and I'm looking forward to sharing with others in the forums.

Thanks for the welcoming words! Sure hope it lasts forever, or at least until I can afford a replacement. New oil pump has made a huge diff in pressure - now runs about 75psi at 70mph and holds to about 65psi in gear at a stop light.(old pump ran about 55psi on the hwy and dropped to 35psi while stopped in gear). Nice not hearing the mains & rods hammering away! Also changed the dist cap & rotor, installed Autolight Professional Grade plug wires and wrapped them in blue/red split conduit. That helped smooth out a lot of the rough idle and acceleration is much improved!
Well, gotta go install some signs. Hope everyone has a great day
