Default Half dead 2000 QC Ram 1500

Hi folks,
Stopped by to see what I can learn. I have a 2000 Dodge Ram with 130K+ miles I bought new. Time to make some repairs, ust the typical dash, heater core and transmission. I need this thing to last a few more years.
So is there a transmission thread to end all.. on here?
My tranny doesn't like to shift out of 2nd gear if I don't accelerate at just the right pace. It also doesn't like to shift back to 3rd/OD if it kicks down on a hill. I have to shift into neutral and back to D to get it to go back into third.
It's headed to the tranny shop this weekend but that's 250 miles away and I am worried about getting it there.

Thanks,
Joey.
