New From Summerville SC
Hey yall,
I'm new here because I gave my old 2002 dodge caravan to my daughter for her first clunker, and I'll be the crew chief. The van is still very nice 3.3 L, Auto, 116k. I've already had trouble and fixed the transmission (AAmco), minor power sterring leak at the return hose, and the AC condenser replaced. Not real bad considering my wife delivered news papers for 3 years. Back to the AAmco trans problem; I'm not 100% sure it needed a total rebuild and here is why:
I inhereted my mother's Honda Acchord. The tranny clunked hard evertime it changed gears and the Tachometer didn't work... I say again... the tach didn't work... Took it to the same AAmco dealer and they said it would not even make it home (10 miles). It too, needed a total rebuild. I didn't believe it this time.THAT WAS 85,000 miles ago!!! The Honda dealer charged me 35.00 to check out the tranny and told me it was an ignition coil causing the problem. This coil looks like a hocky puck and cost 100.00. Put it on and tranny works great.
Bottom lines is; I wish I had searched this forum before the dirt bags at AAmco "rebuilt" the van's tranny. I bet they they just replaced a sensor or something stupid and charged me 2700.00.
