Default New, and already a problem

After all, isnt that what drives most of us to find a site like this? my 98 dakota started up a new issue for me, temp gauge climbs like it normally would, then begins to fluxuate severely, and when it goes to extreme hot, blows cold, when it goes below 90, blows warm again. wouldnt be an issue, except the fact its hittin winter in Canada! warm air may be severely needed in short order. i've seen several posts on this, most of them have to do with flushing the heater core, i've already purchased a new thermostat, trucks got 218 K in km's on it, so is it advisable to switch it out as well, while im at it?

good to meet everyone here, look forward to using the info on this site to build my betsy back to better workin order!
