Default new guy, got a question about my 97 1500

well im a ford guy at hart, but have always liked dodge's.
welp, i just got my first one.

i was wondering if the tcase out of the durango's will be the same?
its got the 5 speed,318,

ita a 1997 dodge ram 1500 4x4, has 150 thousand miles,im the 2nd owner,need's a tcase.

but drives like a new truck fires right up shifts grate, got it up to 75 and drives strate and true,
inside and out is dang near perfect, when the old guy was showing it to me he said the only thing he can see wrong on the inside was a few stitch's where starting to come loose on the left bottom part of the drivers seat (almost ever dodge i seen has had a hole in that same spot)
who wants to guess how much i payed for this? bet no one will come close.8-)

when it's driving along it will make a grinding noise off and on.

the guy took it in and they told him it was the tcase and would cost over 1500 (why i got it so cheap) $1,850.00

i cant feel anything it the tranny's shifter and it dosne't pop out of gear so im pretty sure its not the tranny.

and i have a few friends that have had about the same thing happen to there dodge tcase's.
