Default no heat in cab...my first dodge

i just bought a 2000 ram 1500 5.9 4x4 w/ 123k. there is no heat coming from the cab. blower works, the upper radiator hose is hot but the lower hose is cool, even the radiator is cool. i was told the truck may have a petcock but no luck finding it. havent tried to flush the radiator yet. just wanted to ask if it sounds like a water pump, or thermostate and if this is a typical thing for the rams?

Welcome to the site. Your heater core may be shot. You can ask the guys in the Ram sections,
