Default Error Code 37

My truck is giving me a code 37 and I know it means Torque Converter Solenoid CKT park/neutral switch but what does that actually mean? What is my problem? I checked out the ATF and it was clean, not brown or black at all. I did some research online and my symptoms match a torque converter problem, truck shakes a little bit under acceleration on a smooth road and overheats the engine a bit. Do I just need to have somebody replace the torque converter? If anybody has had this problem please fill me in on what I should do about this. I don't know anything about torque converter issues. Thanks.
