Question New member

I just bought a 2010 Dodge Ram TRX4 5.7L Quad cab... Great truck so far... just had a couple questions about performance and MDS system. How does the MDS system work exactly? And if I add any performance parts, such as air intake or exhaust, will it affect the MDS? What are some of the better performance parts that you would recommend?

thanks for your time

Welcome to the site. The MDS system will shut down four of the eight cylinders during crusing speeds in order to save gas. I am not sure if it shuts he same four down or a combination to even the wear on the cylinder walls. My ported heads make the MDS sytem sound sort of like a sewing machine as the valves will bleed down, but not to zero the valve lash (valetrain noise). The exhaust upgrades will have no efffect on the MDS system,
