You could do as I did.
Lubricate with Amsiol everywhere you can put it.
Series 2000 0-30 engine oil, Universal ATF, Foam air filter, Remote By-Pass oil filteration system. Change the engine oil filter every 15,000 miles and add some oil. Send oil samples to the lab every 50,000 miles to make sure the oil doesn't need replacement.
My 98 Dakota 3.9 V6 Automatic has 455,600 miles on the origional engine and transmission.
As we say; It works for me.
I did have to do a valve job at 350,000 miles and the mechanic was shocked to see hatch marks on the cylinder walls. At that time I installed Gibson Headders. Now it performs! 20MPG any time I want to set the cruise control at 65. An improvement of 1.5mpg at 10 mph faster. And I can actually get out of my own way.

Welcome to Dodgeforum! Have you had any previous problems with the truck because that seems unbelievable! [&:]

Welcome to DF. That's a load of miles, but I suppose it's possible if you keep up with regular maintenance and you are not hard on the vehicle.
