Hello, new guy here.
Hello, I'm new here and just wanted to say hello. Just got a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 automatic 5.9 V8 yesterday for, you are not going to believe this, $100. Yes that's right, $100. I put a battery in it, stopped at the gas station and pumped $10 worth of gas in it and drove it home. I got it from a Marine @ Camp Lejeune that was being relocated to Va. and he had to get rid of it. He actually called my son and told him to just come and get it, that he didn't want to see it go to a scrap yard. He said that a friend of his had borrowed it one time and had popped a transmission line off while using it and that the tranny would slip sometimes. He said he put the line back on and filled it with fluid and had been using it to go back and forth to work. Well, I followed my son home at 60 MPH and it seemed to be doing pretty well, he said it would shift kind of hard sometimes. I've been looking around the forum some to get some ideas on what we have so as to try and get some fine tuning done on the truck before any real usage. My son said he was doing about 2400 RPM's at about 60 MPH, so I'd like to check and see if that is right, I don't think she is going into overdrive, maybe didn't engage it, I haven't driven it yet. Going to do a fluid and filter change on it today using the ATF+4 tranny fluid and see if that might assist at all. The truck runs so good, unbelievably good, and just needed someone to breath some new life into it. I'll take some pics today so those that would like to see it can. I'll try to load them up later. Anyway, any advice, tips, tricks or insight is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to getting in to working on this truck with my son. Thanks in advance, Marty
