Default 2500 Diesel Water pump Replacement

I just had to replace my water pump on my Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Diesel. The actual removal and replacement was simple. Easier than on some of the other vehicles I have owned.

But I ran into a problem. I got my replacement pump form AutoZone BWP-726. No there is nothing wrong with the part. The trouble was that the inclosed instructions are for the wrong type of pump. There is an O-ring included with this part. For this model truck it is not needed. DO NOT use it. I did on the first pump and ended up cracking the base. The second pump went on easy and worked fine. IF YOU USE THE O-ring. The pump can not mount flush to the motor block and will break if you try.

Hope this saves others from the $50 lesson I had to learn.
