Default Hello from CT!

Hello all,

My name is Lewis.
I just purchased my 1997 Ram 1500 5.2L 4x4 Extended Cab yesterday (Nov 10).
I have loved the dodge style (2nd Gen) pretty much since it was introduced. I FINALLY got one!

Sadly, the event that allowed me to get one was my Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado getting totalled in an accident. I bought it new in 1997. It was hit in the rear, oddly enough, by a 2002 Ram 1500.

I had recently purchased a 1994 Jeep GC LI for body and interior parts for my 97 Larado. The bad news is the 1994 Limited does me no good for my Larado. The good news is it has the 5.2L in it so I now have a spare engine (as far as I can tell... I'm not a mechanic). The Ram's 5.2 has about 193k on it. The Limited's engine has 201k on it. If I can make the room in my garage, I am hoping to do a total tear down and rebuild (with mods) of the Limited's 5.2 to eventually put into the Ram (again, not a mechanic but I think that can be done, right?) Anyway, the word "fate" seems to be all over these events!

I first came to these forums looking for quick east ways to increase the Ram's HP and create that nice low rumbling sound I have always loved. After reading a while, I figured this could be my new hobby for a while. I also figured I may need help (I mentioned I'm not a mechanic, right?)!

I'll post some pictures in a day or two.

Nice to meet you all.

Just a little FYI for you guys to help explain any "noob" questions in the future: I was an accountant. I know very little about cars and trucks. I usually start out by purchasing a Haynes manual. If I need more information, I hit the internet. Fortunately, I have always enjoyed taking things apart, I love "gadgets", and I tend to be good at troubleshooting.

Why do I tell you all this? So you know not to assume I know things. If I am unsure, I will usually ask for more information even if it makes me look "dumb". The problem comes when I don't know enough to know I don't know enough and should ask for more information. :/

I think I have read enough in the Gen II forum to have a clue about my truck. Now I'll probably start asking my questions.

Thanks in advance for your patience.
