Default My first new truck

My first new truck, ram 1500 hemi. It is such a step up from my beloved 1988 ford 250. This also is my first 4x4. So I have a ? for you truck buffs. I engaged the 4x4 in our first snow....driving straight no problem. But when I turn into a driveway or onto a road, it jumps and almost stops, and seems like I shouldn't be giving it gas to push through its resistance. What is up with that, has it something to do w/traction, or should I have a mechanic look at it?

Welcome to the site. It is the transfer case locks the differential (opposed to limited slip) and the wheels spin at the same speed instead of the outside wheel spinning faster to compensate during turns. It is noticeable going in reverse and making sharp turns as one set of wheels will haave to break contact to adjust for the others difference in travel at the same arcs.....it is normal,
