check engine light

Default check engine light

a few weeks ago my tachometer quit for a few seconds then came back up, this morning my check engine light came on, im tracing wires and may have found one that was worn so i fixed it, my question is how do i shut the check engine light off without a 150 to 200 dollar obd machine?
