Standard trans jumps out of all gears.
Does anybody know why my 94 Diesel Ram 3500 NV4500 standard transmission keeps jumping out of gear, and note that the stick doesn't move when this happens. I've heard of a nut that comes loose on the 5th gear that starts to affect all of the gears after time but have not heard if it ever is a linkage issue. Any ideas? I've notice the gear oil smells like plain old gear oil and not like a plastic smell, as stated by another poster, Castrol Syntorque (gummy bear smell?)
1. I've heard output shaft wear could be the cause.
2. Bad throw bearing causing abnormal gear alignment.
3. Bad hydraulic clutch system.
4. Bolts holding down 5th gear loose or missing.
