Cummins Noob, block heater ?
Just traded my 2005 Rumble Bee for a 2007 2500 Cummins because I wanted a quad cab, I will be pulling quads and I just like the fact that they run a long time.
However, I am a noob to the diesel world, so please help me without flaming me. I have a 2007 2500 Big Horn (5.9). Winter is coming. Do I have to buy a block heater or does it come with one and I just need the cord? What is a good block heater if I need the whole thing?
Also, is there any other prep work that I need to do before winter? The dealer just changed the oil.
Thanks

Most fuel stations pre-treat fuel below -20C if those temps last a while. I use fuel conditioner below -30C... Blockheater is a must below -20C. I'm not sure but 100pct of trucks up here come with them. What neck of the woods are you from?
Thanks guys. I found the port for the block heater. The screw cap is still on so I am not sure they guy that had it before me ever used it. I took a look at the manual and it says that the cord should be just behind the grill around the head lamp. I went out to look, but cant find it. Maybe im over looking it somewhere, but I cant see any cords....the air cleaner box is in the way on the pass side. Its pretty blustery so I just gave up. If I cant find the dang thing ill just go buy one. Id like to get one with a timer.
Im in ohio, around the Dayton area. Its about 35-40F right now with the winds, but we are supposed to warm up a bit this weekend.
Again, thank you
