I know a 318 all my buddies are bagging on me but I want to build it.Its in a longwheel base D-150 truck. I dont know to much about dodge engines but I am willing to learn. First off I am wanting to build it to stripe little cars red light to red light nothing to much requiring a stall convertor over 2000-2400 rpm or a rear gear such as 4.56 just a good running 318 with plenty of street power. Have you started with the basics? Opened up the air intake and a more free flowing exhaust?

 

Yes I have a edlbrock 600cfm carb ,rpm intake manifold, and 2 1/4" duals with Hooker Turbo style mufflers. I am just wondering if these are a step in the right direction for my expections. And if so would I need a cam with 110 lope sepration or 112?
