Default New and need some suggestions

Hello all. I was given a 1996 dodge ram 1500 V8 5.9L short bed truck from my father because he was done putting money in it. The only thing wrong was some rust and reverse went out in the transmission. This was the 2nd tranny that he had put in. So i went out and bought a rebuilt last summer and put in on. Ran good so then i started doing the fun stuff. Put a 5" suspension lift on it with 35" tires. Well last week out of the blue the transmission started to slip pretty bad to the point its not driveable. I know this truck is know for transmission problems. Just wondering what is the best way to go to make sure this won't happen again. Better transmission out there or what can be done to "upgrade" one that is being rebuilt. Would love to do the automactic to manual conversion but that is probably out of the question. Looking for help. Thanks in advance.
