Been operating this 2000, 4x4 1500 dodge ram for some time. On most of my short travells the overdive unit will not engage, but on a recent trip while towing a loaded trailer up a steep grade, the overdrive unit engaged. I know that it can shift, just don`t understand why it won`t on regular conditions.
Pulled the transmission pan off, change filter and new fluid. No Change.
Would a faulty tempreture sensor prevent the overdrive from working?
Will a later model valve body which was installed by the previous owner, have any bearing on the operation.
