Default Help :(

Hey I'm completely new here and made an account solely for the purpose of finding help from people who know durangos.
I have a 2000 dodge Durango 4X4 v8. It hasn't ever really given me any problems until the past few months. I had to get a new battery back in September after mine completely died for no reason whatsoever. It was running ok after that until this weekend. I was driving home from university and about an hour and a half into the drive I stopped at a gas station and turned my car completely off. It cranked back up again with no problem but about ten seconds later this loud whirring noise started from the front left side. I pulled over and cut the engine off but the noise continued but seemed to slow just a bit. My brake light was on as well as the ABS light on my dash. The e brake wasn't on I even pushed and released it to make sure. I started it back up and the noise got a little faster and louder...it drove fine and the brakes worked fine so I drove the hour and a half home. The noise wouldn't stop so I left it in the drive way. The next morning my car was completely dead...I had to manually unlock it. But the noise stopped! I have NO clue what the problem is...any piece of advice would be more than welcome at this point!!!!

Thanks!
Lauren
