Default NC here...new to forum and Dodge.

Hi all. I am new to the forum and new to Dodge. Recently bought a 2012 2500 Laramie and love every day of driving it. There are, however, some changes/upgrades that I want to do over time...as every truck owner does I suppose.

Most of my driving is on the highway (3000 miles/mo.), but when I get to where I am going, I definitely need the utility of a truck and the 4wd. That leads me to my first "issues" that I am having.

1. The 4wd on my truck has the "4 setting transfer case", which means it doesn't have a 4wd Auto feature. I have found this to be a bit of a pain in the *** since that's the setting that I would most often use. I went into the dealership and they said that the HDs don't have the "5 setting transfer case" option. Furthermore, you can't get it. I am definitely not happy with this and can't understand why the engineers would design the system like that.

2. Since the truck looks so good as is (at least my son and I think so), we decided not to put a brush guard and winch on the front. Instead we are going with a front-mounted hitch and winch power to both the front and back hitches. I thought it was a great idea until I had the front hitch installed. It is so low to the ground, I am not sure it's worth having. I can see future problems arising with just every day driving/parking and don't like it. It literally comes out under the black plastic air dam or whatever it is. I am thinking about taking it to a machine shop and having them rebuild the whole hitch.

3. Wheels and tires vs. just bigger tires...the age old dilemna.

Thanks for being here and posting. I look forward to using the forum as well as documenting my "journey", for lack of a better word.
