I picked up a fairly ambitious project and figured learning more sure couldn't hurt.
I bought a 2004 1500 4x4 from a family member that had a little too much fun on a snow day. It has a not so minor dent in the right side. Initially we thought the cab might be able to be saved but after weighing all the options we decided to just swap out the whole body. I found a 2wd Texas truck with a bad motor that came from an impound yard.
After it's all said & done I'll sell the chassis/drive line stuff off the maroon truck and the body parts off the white truck to recoup some costs.
