Hello from Mike in Arizona!
Hello everybody,
I've been reading lots of threads and been posting questions, but I haven't really introduced myself. I am a 58 year old US Army veteran, and I've been working in telecommunications since starting in the Army in 1978. I live up by Sedona in a small town called Cottonwood, and have 3 horses too.
I had two Rams for a little while - my 2004 gold 1500 Laramie and a 2016 1500 big horn. I recently sold the 2016 as it wasn't really working for me (my wife sure loved it) and I was always driving the 2004 anyway.
I've uploaded pictures of my 2004 at https://dodgeforum.com/g/album/9402902 .
I've not done much to it, other than a full suspension rebuild back and front, including ball joints, control arms, hubs, tie rods & ends, stabilizer link bars and bar bushings, HD leaf springs, rancho shocks all around and a decent set of tires on 18" alloy rims. I also modified the dash to install a Sirius XM hi res (24 bit FLAC) media/radio/cd with control of the Infinity system the car came with. That included hands free phone too. I put a Satellite antenna in the roof, over the overhead console, since that was the easiest place to drill the mounting hole without taking out the whole head liner.
The 5.7L Hemi has 173,000 miles on it, so I am going to milk it as long as I can. I run the Castroil 10W-40 as it gets hot up here, and I am using the Advanced Synthetic oil for high mileage vehicles, with the Purolator One filter.
Currently I am seeking to beef up my drive train, as I've got a fund already started for a stroked hemi.with cams for low end torque and a custom tune. So I'd really like to toughen up the back end. I wish I could just shut off the AWD, and tow in 2WD so I could invest in a high-end rear end drop in. But I know it won't make a difference with the AWD going anyway.
Any how, Howdy Everybody, and thanks for having me!
Please TAKE A LOOK at the pictures. You're going to laugh when you see the condition of my '04.
