Thanks for the add to this awesome forum. hi!, My name is Carl Gibson and while I’ve owned many late model Jeeps including 2 V-6 Libertys and a Commander with a 5.7 Hemi. We’re down to one Liberty now and went looking for something that would pull a 25ft travel trailer with relative ease. That’s when we wandered into a used truck lot and sticking out like odd sock in a neat drawer, was this Bright Orange 2017 Ram 1500 4 door Sport. 36,000 on the clock and ready to take us where we wanted to go. Funny thing was, the dealer told me it still had another year of factory warranty which was why I was willing to spend a little extra money to secure it. Fast forward 3 months. I noticed grease getting flung up and all over the right front fender well. Yup! Outer C-V boot begun to split. No worries, right? I have a warranty! Well, I took it right over to the dealer all smug and everything with a big smile I let them know THEY have a problem. I pointed out the issue and after a couple minutes the service manager ran the Vin and returned the smug look and informed me that my truck was a “Canadian” truck and that it was “ME” who has the problem..lol. It would seem, the Factory warranty was only good if I had a Canadian identification and Canadian address.😳 I could believe it. I harshly learned at that very moment Chrysler is the only manufacturer that doesn’t honor factory warranties on it’s vehicles brought into the States or Vice-Versa. Be that it is, I went home and bought the boot on Rock Auto and installed it myself. Thank goodness I’ve done them many times in a former profession. I love the truck and she gets an amazing amount of on lookers, waves and comments. One thing is for sure! We’ve never lost her in a large parking lot either!..lol We went clamming on the Washington Long Beach peninsula. The day she came home.
