Hey everyone, I've been coming to this forum for answers for years, but never bothered to make my own account until now. My first impression has been great, I see a really supportive, down to earth, and helpful community.
Some background on myself- I'm a 22 year old guy, been driving this 96 ram since I was 16. I've beat it up as a daily, and the truck and I have been through hell and back, and it has never let me down nor do I plan to let it down. Unfortunately I had a snafu moment last spring when I replaced the fuel injector rail connecting hose, and secured it with a simple screwdriver hose clamp. No issues for 6 months, until yesterday on the road when that connecting hose came loose and sprayed aerosolized fuel all over the hot motor. One thing lead to another and flames started creeping out of the hood after I noticed a fuel smell and lack of throttle response. Got to safety, hauled *** into a shopping center parking lot and put my extinguisher to good use, but not before the inferno had run its course on all my wiring.

Enough of being sad, here is my truck.
1996 Ram 1500 regular cab short bed 2x4- Indy 500 edition
5.9l Magnum V8
46RE 4 speed auto
88,102 miles
Some aftermarket parts- K&N air intake, Pacesetter shorties, Flow master single exhaust system, 180 tstat (Not much but I'm trying to build support for bigger better things, like a cam, and getting a dyno tune done)

Most recent picture, after fire. Paint has been peeling for a while now. Note the partially melted front grill, and scorch marks on the fender near the hood. There is still some residue from the fire extinguisher all over the truck

I've got my work cut out for me. Mostly wiring harness, but needs new ignition system (distributor cap, wires), new fuel injectors, new vacuum lines, TPS, and a couple other small bits to get it running like a dream again

That's all there is to that. I appreciate any questions or anything yall might have for me (advice, calling me an idiot, etc)

Well now I'm not the only one here that has one! Unfortunately you found out the hard way the responsibilities of your actions. Or it could be a learning experience, I think it's safe to say you will put a little more thought into things now. Just find a donor truck before 1998 and it you should have it back in running condition again. You have one of about 2800 of these trucks produced so keep it on the road!
