Hi everybody. I am a newbie. I have a 1989 2wd reg. cab long bed dakota. I am rebuilding the 3.9 v6 as we speak. I have pulled the engine and have torn it down to the short block. Saturday night I pulled the lifters and roller cam. The truck is stock with 150,000 miles on it. I bent a valve and blow the head gasket between 1 and 3. This truck has had some hard miles on it so I decided to do a rebuild instead of just some head work.

 

Howdy and welcome aboard to the DF! My one brother use to have a red 1990 dakota V6 3.9L..Unfortunatly he had to sell it because of all the problems it was starting to have.

Welcome to the forum!! Glad to have you here! Do you have any pics to share of the Dakota?

Sounds like you really know your stuff when it comes to engines, where did you pick up your knowledge? I'm assuming you are self taught or it's a family thing. Most people don't just dive into such a heavy rebuild without the knowhow. Good for you!!
