Default New Guy Shopping for Dakotas/Durangos

Hey guys, I’m new here and had a few questions. I’m beginning to look at replacements for my jeep, and the Dakota is one of the vehicles on the list. Ideally I would love a second gen, 4x4, V8 quad cab, and would end up mildly modifying it hopefully with intake and exhaust, plus some cosmetics and maybe some thicker tires. First, I’m curious if any soft tonneau covers are waterproof, or not? Second, what brand catback do people like? Ive been looking into gibson, flowmaster, and magnaflow, any thoughts or comments? Also, is there anything I should look for specifically when it comes to shopping for Dakotas, and for aftermarket parts? Thanks a lot guys.

welcome to DF...

since you have a jeep ZJ... you may already know about the plenum problem with the V8's... if not that is a problem with the 3.9/5.2/5.9 motors.. they leak. easy fix but requires you to yank the intake.

as far as tonneau's go... I have a hard tonneau so it doesnt leak. exhaust... aero turbine, flowmaster, gibson, magnaflow are all good.
