The best superchager is a centrifical since it's basiclly a belt driven turbo.
Excellent for street application

SCG.. actually BUgatti makes a pasta rocket with a V12 that has quad turbos. But then it also costs 1.2 million $$.

At any rate as many have said superchargers are easier on your motor by far but most vehicles see more power gain from turbos. The main reason for this is that since superchargers have what is called parasitic drag. Since the motor has to spin the supercharger around too it actually takes power to make power. What this really comes out to is that it takes TORQUE (your low end power) to make more horsepower. Turbos are driven by the exhaust so depending on how large the turbo is the motor has to be spinning some RPMs before you get boost (This does lead to a very cool accelration effect) where the supercharger is basically constant. These facts do not make one better than the other but should help you pick better for your application. Low revving mototrs, like most american V8s have stupid amounts of torque and wont really get enouph RPMs to warrant turbos, and generally take much better to superchargers. Vehicles with higher revving motors and lower torque are better applications for turbo. There is still the issue of lag but that can be effectively solved by dropping your clutch at the right RPM and even better getting a nitrous get made for turbo vehicles. You get spray untill the turbos reach boost speed, although this should really be used strictly on the track. Also because of the relation of turbos to the high end powerband i would NEVER recomend a turbo for an automatic.

And some words on nitrous. NoShas such a bad reputation is ridicualous. An improperly set up nos setup will blow a motor faster than you can blink and eye but a properly set up one can actually be quite safe. A little known fact is that NItrous actually softens the relative compression on the walls of the motor. The main reason people blow up their motors is from NOS is that it leans out the mix alot. You should always use a wet kit which mixes fuel with NOS. When higher amounts are used the motor timing must be retarded as well. MOst vehicles can keep the stock bottom end of the motor with mild/moderate amounts of NOS or boost as long as there is sufficient fuel delivery for the NOS/boost. Some vehicles will need a better clutch to grip the power though. The only gripe i have about NOS is that it isnt on all the time and unless you have a remote bottle opener the bottle will probably be closed when some jackass in a civic pulls up at the light.

With all that said a stealth will probably take fairly well to either turbo or supercharger. Since it is basically a 3000GT it will probably be easier to find and work slightly better to go turbo. Whatever you choose it would probably be a good idea to start running synthetic oil. Let us know what you do and, if you can easily, get some before/after dyno results as im sure everyone is interested.

EEEEEEEEEEE Wrong. I believe it is a W16 cylinder engine with quad turbos. That is the Buggatti Veyron.

RE: Supercharger and Turbo?
Within the last year there was an article in trailer life magazine where they put a supercharger on a 5.7 Hemi for pulling a camper. They loved it,but only after having the transm. reflashed so it would not hunt between gears so much.
