Finally, we have our first official SRT-8 LX sedan competitor, and this one has some serious bite...
6.2L V8 LS3 - 402hp & 402ftlbs of torque
6 speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 automatic transmission standard (3.27 gearing)
6 speed Tremec TR6060manual transmission optional (3.70 gearing)
0-60 in roughly 4.7 seconds - 1/4 mile in roughly 13.0 flat @ 108mph.... (these arent certified numbers, but if they are even close, faster then any of the SRT-8's in stock form)
4 wheel disc brakes w/ ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control
Limited Slip Differential is STANDARD

13 flat in 1/4 mile seems to be a little slow for a car that can do 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. our SRT's pull 12's in the 1/4 mile.

There are always going to be people who can manage to get their cars in stock form to go faster then these times. I'm aware of that. However, the fact remains that most people will look at these and play magazine race wars. It's all about who can show their faster.
I mean, I've seen numbers for a stock Z06 Corvette run a high 10 quarter mile....but yet the stock numbers from Chevy are in the 11's.....
I know of a few guys over at a few of the LX forums that have gotten into the mid to low 12's in their SRT-8's stock....but we're talking fresh of the assembly line and down to the local track with no chance to do anything with the car.... most people will not duplicate those numbers.

1. Interested in price
2. Wonder why they just did not use the same exact engine from the Vette then detune it via the computer to keep the Vette their "king". Would have saved some $$??

2.) This is the same LS3 V8 that is powering the Corvette...

youve not spent enough time in a bmw if you think that GM has made anything that could ever dream of competing with anything from bmw. my 92 bmw is nicer than the NEW gm sedans...and faster than most of them too.
you gm fella gonna hope that the difference in weight and the manual gearbox will make up for the gross difference in power? ill have to see this new bonneville run in the 13.0 range with that power before i believe it..and lets keep in mind that QUITE a few people have put srt8 sedans into the 12s in near stock form..things like tires, and CAIs...i believe that stripper motorsports got their charger into the 12.70s...not everyone hs done it, but it only takes practice to do it..

Consider...
G8 GT - 361hp/385ftlbs torque
R/T 300C - 345hp/390ftlbs torque
G8 GT - 402hp/402ftlbs torque
SRT-8 - 425hp/420ftlbs torque
I think the difference in weight between the two is something like 2-300lbs tops....but the LSD helps plus the manual tranny helps....not to mention the gearing on the G8......
Please note, I've never said this was an SRT-8 killer, merely it's first real competition....

i think that the manual trans could be the saving grace for this car, but i hate that pontiac is making everything look the same. the charger and magnum are fairly close, but at least there are some variations in design cues. the G cars all look like the same car, stretched to fit the various platforms... i didnt like the G6 (the new grand am) at all, and its not getting any better, in my opinion.
why dont they just market the holdens here, as pontiac seems to havebecome "holden of the US"...at least the holden would be somewhat exotic. id much rather have a holden monaro than a gto, even though they are essentially the same car....i just find the holden to be more interesting, and i really like the look of the vauxhall monaro vxr. is the vxr8 the G8, overseas? if so, why not just offer that car here....
