Cool, but I would stick with a Cummins if I had a truck...

not bad for an engine thats rated to only last 200,000 miles

The Duramax engine is pretty bada$$, as long as you leave it stock, go over 600-700hp and the engine ralfs the rotating assembly like a kitten with a hair ball. however, for 06 Isuzu has addressed this issue so this might be the reason for the increase in power.

I think Dodge needs rethink which Cummins Engine they use in there Trucks, Man If I had a choice it would be the ISL series Cummins There is a 400hp one with 1000+ fps Torque!
But then we would have to use a Different trans and rework stuff, & DCX does'nt have the ***** to do it!

Well, actually, Cummins claims they can get the current engine in the Ram (the "B" engine) to over 350 hp and over 700 lb ft torque. But, they probably won't stretch the limits of the engine due to government restrictions. Plus, they would have to change the the tranny they are using now if they want 700 lb ft torque...ha ha!

thats not the only thing they would have to change, I would bet the frame would have to be strengthened to some extent. For I remember back in 1995 Dodge was having a problem with frames being tweaked up pretty good from people trying to use them to the engines limit. Eventually they fixed the frame issue by beefing them up and that ended the flood of crooked trucks coming back to the service dept. If they up'd the HP and torque much more then it will have to effect a change all the way thru the whole truck.

There is a new frame for 2006, maybe that was one of the reasons for it. 40 ft-lbs. of torque is nothing for the Cummins, I see another power bump in mid MY2006 to again have the most powerful Diesel.

There has got to be a logically limit on the power output of Cummins, Duramax, or Powerstroke. These are pickup trucks, not 18 wheelers. Nothing gets me more aggrevated than watching anyone with any diesel pickup pulling a 30ft+ RV trailer with a boat or 4 wheelers in tow down these 6-10% grades in the mountains out west. Sure the trucks have the nuts to pull the weight, but very few of them have the *** to stop them, even with trailer brakes. With every power increase, you do see some loss of fuel economy, and today that is a little more important than it used to be.

the marine version of the HPCR ISB that is currently in the trucks now puts out about 425hp and 910tq

at that piont I would crack the bell houseing and melt the clutch

oh, BTW, the only changes to the engine from the marine version and the Ram version are injectors, turbo and fuel pump
